The sheer amount of talent in the European continent showed itself clearly during the apparatus finals at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Banska Bystrica (SVK).
In the men’s competition, 6 different nations claimed the gold medals with Danny Crouch earning the gold on floor for Great Britain, Lithuania’s Kristijonas Padegimas performing a masterclass on pommel horse to win with a massive score of 14.466 while Sweden’s Luis Il-Sung Melander swung to victory on rings. On vault, Joona Reiman clinched the gold for Finland while Germany and Israel made it to the top of the leaderboard as well with Jukka Nissinen winning parallel bars and Dmytro Dotsenko on high bar, respectively. All-around Champion Radomyr Stelmakh added silver on floor and pommel horse and bronze on parallel bars to his collection, becoming the most decorated male gymnast.
German standout Helen Kevric added gold on vault and silver on bars and floor to get to a grand total of 6 medals, the best of any female athlete at this Festival! Romania’s Amalia Puflea, second in the all-around and Team Champion, earned two gold medals today, on beam and floor while Martina Pieratti clinched the gold on uneven bars for Italy.
