Baku Europeans kick off Trampoline and Tumbling season

Preview of the 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics calendar

The first big meet on the 2018 calendar is an incredibly important one for the European gymnasts: the European Championships in Baku (AZE)! Team titles are up for grabs for juniors and seniors in Individual Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling, while individual titles can be won in all three previous disciplines plus for the best pairs in synchronised Trampoline. 4 action packed days await us in the National Gymnastics Arena! We can’t wait to see ‘veterans’ like Uladzislau Hancharou, Dmitri Ushakov, Tatsiana Piatrenia, Kristof Willerton, Anna Korobeynikova, Mikhail Zalomin and Lina Sjoeberg in competition again. How do they hold up against the new rising generation? We’ll see in Baku!

And these Europeans are not only important because of their obvious continental value, but the event is also the only qualification possibility for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the 2019 European Games. Only gymnasts born between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2002 are eligible for the Youth Olympics, which will be held in October in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires, and Europe has five places available for boys and girls each in Individual Trampoline, with a limit of 1 per country per category. For the European Games, 24 men and 24 women can qualify in Individual Trampoline and 8 pairs each in synchro.

4 World Cup events are planned this year too and in November the World Age Group competitions and World Championships will be held in St. Petersburg (RUS).
