The last day of the 2021 Rhythmic Europeans saw plenty of dramatic and historic performances.
Three-time World all-around Champion Dina Averina won three apparatus titles: hoop, ball and ribbon, leaving only the clubs to Israeli star Linoy Ashram. Winning against the Russian team is quite a feat, it has been a whole 10 years since the last non-Russian victory: Belarus' Liubou Charkashyna won ball and clubs gold in 2011. Ashram also added silver with hoop and ball.
Belarus did well here today too with Alina Harnasko earning silver with ribbon and bronze with ball while Anastasia Salos grabbed two bronze medals, for her hoop and clubs performances. Yesterday’s all-around Champion, Arina Averina (RUS), struggled today, winning only the bronze with ribbon.
In the groups’ competition, the host nation celebrated huge success. Bulgaria’s Golden Girls mesmerised the audience at Varna’s Palace of Culture of Sports edging Russia in both difficulty and execution for their first single apparatus gold since 2014. This was followed by a silver medal winning performance in the mixed apparatus final. After bronze in the 5 balls final, Israel regained the mixed apparatus crown which they also won 5 years ago in Holon.
Congratulations to all medallists!
