Clarification on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes at #Zagreb2026

Following on the decision of the Croatian government published on 31 July 2026 relating to the non-use of Russian and Belarusian national flags, anthems, national symbols and national identifiers during the European Championships in Artistic Gymnastics in Zagreb (CRO), and according to the World Gymnastics guidelines, the following conditions shall apply throughout the Championships:

- National flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus shall not be displayed. The flag of World Gymnastics will be used instead.

- National anthems shall not be played. Neutral music will be provided by World Gymnastics.

- The national names Russia and Belarus, the three-letter country codes RUS and BLR, and any other national identifiers shall not be used in official competition systems, accreditation, scoring, results, television graphics or any other official competition materials. Instead WG1 for Belarusian athletes and WG2 for Russian athletes will be used.

- Athletes and delegation members shall not wear competition uniforms, tracksuits or other official clothing in the colours of the national flags of the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus, nor display national flags, state emblems or any other national symbols on clothing, equipment, accessories or other personal items.

After ongoing discussions between the Croatian government, the Croatian Gymnastics Federation and European Gymnastics, the majority of the Russian delegation now received their visas and will arrive in Zagreb on time for podium training.
