European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships - Sofia 2014 : seniors Team Final

Today was dedicated to the Team Final for seniors.

In qualification Great Britain was in first, before Romania and Russia.

But Romania easily defends their European title, having only 1 mistake. The rest of their routines were well executed and consistent.

On beam and floor, they also have great difficulty. On these event they have the highest team total, plus on vault where their execution was great. Bars remain their weaker event but they still provided a decent score.

Great Britain, who was first in qualification, won the silver, 2 points behind Romania. They counted fall on floor and some wobbles on beam. Their bars routines are fantastic; they had the highest team total on this event.

Russia was another 1.5 points behind, in third place. They counted a big mistake on their best event, bars. Overall they lacked difficulty and execution to challenge for silver or bronze.

After the first rotation, Romania leads ahead of Russia and Italy.

After rotation 2, Romania leads ahead of Russia and Great Britain.

Romania leads by three points going into the last rotation. Great Britain and Russia are in second and third respectively.

Romania wins the European title with a score of 172.754! Great Britain is second with 170.663 and Russia third with 169.329. Rest of the top 8 is Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland

Congratulations to European Champion Romania!

See you tomorrow for the Apparatus Finals for juniors and seniors.
