Dear Trampoline friends,
Let's recall the highlights of a very busy year 2022!
In June, Italy organised the Senior and Junior European Championships in the hospitable city of Rimini. In November, gymnasts from all over the world competed at the World Championships and World Age Groups Competition in Sofia (BUL). At these World Championships, 23 European countries participated and won an impressive 7 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Portugal hosted the traditional European Trampoline Gymnastics Training Camp in the high-performance Centre of Anadia in Sangalhos in July. Save already the place and date for 2023: Sangalhos (POR), 23th - 29th July!
I am happy to see increasing interest in DMT in Europe. To support it, we have organised two DMT development workshops. One in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NED) in May and one in Katowice (POL) in September attended by the coaches and gymnasts from the Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic and Italy.
Our Technical Committee met three times this year. At the last meeting in Riga (LAT) in November, we welcomed the representatives from the Baltic region (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) and provided a short practical coaching and judging workshop. This new format of TC meetings is a great opportunity for new and developing countries in Trampoline Gymnastics.
The European Gymnastics electoral Congress took place in Albufeira (POR) two weeks ago. I would like to congratulate the new European Trampoline Gymnastics TC for the 2023-2025 cycle: Babette van Wetering (NED, president), Patrick Siegfried (GER), Konrad Bojakowski (POL), Luis Nunes (POR), Clive Morgan (GBR), Andrew Coulter (IRL) and Jenny Söderlund (SWE). Good luck!
26 countries with 338 unique gymnasts and 438 starts in all our disciplines participated in the European Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics in Rimini (ITA) in June. Ukraine was represented in every discipline and category as well and I would like to express a big thanks to everyone who helped to make this possible!
We implemented a new five-days competition format, in which the junior and senior competition are more separated and the competition days shorter, thus creating more rest for the gymnasts and coaches between the different stages of competition.
Great Britain was the most successful country in Italy, with 12 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, followed by France (4 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze) and Spain (4 gold, 3 bronze). A grand total of 15 countries (57%) returned home with at least one medal from these Championships.
The Italian Gymnastics Federation organised the European Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics for the first time. Thanks to their hospitality, care, enormous effort and many ideas, the event was a success. Although the organisers were facing a lot of unexpected situations and changes, they solved many of those issues successfully.
Due to the restrictions against Russia and Belarus, the shipping of the tumbling tracks from the producer in Russia was not possible. The tracks for the event have been kindly lent by two Polish clubs AZS-AWF Wroclaw and UKS Korona Olkusz. This generous act saved the tumbling competition. Thank you once more, Konrad Bojakowski and Jacek Czerniak!
The next European Championships will be held in Guimaraes (POR) on 3rd - 7th April 2024. If you are interested to host the European Championships in 2026, please contact the European Gymnastics office for more details.
My great appreciation goes to the judges awarded with recognition as European Gymnastics Honorary Judge in 2022. All of them received their diplomas and a special pin.
Congratulations to Peter Heames (GBR), Rusudan Khoperia (GEO), Karine Lambert (FRA), Clive Morgan (GBR) and Claire Thompson (GBR)!
I am sure that there are more judges who deserve this award in Europe. Further nominations should be send by the respective NFs at the last year of the Olympic cycle.
The European Gymnastics Training Camps in Trampoline Gymnastics successfully took place in the high-performance Centre of Anadia in Sangalhos (POR) from 24 to 30 July 2022.
68 gymnasts and 25 coaches from 13 countries participated in the camp. We also welcomed Slovenia, Serbia and Romania in TRA and Poland in DMT and provided the participants with top-level European coaching experts from various countries. I would like to thank all the experts Luis Nunes, Paul Greaves, Sergio Lucas, Julie Perreten, Anette Dalsten Hansen, Luis Rosa Nunes and Gaël Manry for coming and sharing their own experience and knowledge with the participants.
The Gymnastics Federation of Portugal and the local organiser Sunlive Group prepared excellent conditions for the participants. Nice hotel with pool, excellent food, and unique training conditions for all. In the leisure time a trip to the historic city of Aveiro was organised for the participants.
All participants had a great time in Sangalhos in a friendly atmosphere and had the possibility to not only learn new elements or exercises but also create a new network of friends across the borders.
We have already fixed the date in Sangalhos for next year ! If you are interested to participate, reserve these dates: 23th - 29th July 2023!
Because of my administrative mistake I couldn’t be a candidate for the position of Technical Committee president for the upcoming cycle and I was also not elected as member.
Looking back I am proud of all the work done and appreciate the great ideas and cooperation of all TC members. I would also like to thank you all for your kind support and I am looking forward to meeting you in the near future again.

As the end of the year 2022 is fast approaching, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Have a successful 2023!
Vladimir Zeman
