A Medal-Packed Day for Colas, Esposito and Melnikova in Zagreb

After two days of competition in Zagreb, the first individual finals of the European Championships got underway. Following a lively opening ceremony and in front of a packed crowd, the Senior Women took to the arena for the Vault final.

Angelina Melnikova set the pace with an average score of 14.166, putting her at the top of the standings from the very start of the final. Germany’s Karina Schoenmaler (14.066) delivered a particularly strong first vault, securing her the silver medal. Belgium’s gymnast claimed bronze with an impressive 13.983 on her final vault, rounding off the podium in the first final of the day.

Germany’s Helen Kevric delivered a clean performance, scoring 14.166. Elisa Iorio (14.333) and Giulia Perotti (14.233) took second and third place respectively, adding two more medals for Italy.

France’s young Elena Colas, who finished third in the All-Around, once again showed that she has made a strong entrance onto the senior stage. She claimed gold in the Balance Beam final, finishing ahead of the highly experienced Manila Esposito (13.833). Angelina Melnikova took bronze with a score of 13.700.

In the final event of the day, Manila Esposito delivered a brilliant floor routine, scoring 13.700 to claim another European title and add to her impressive medal collection. Elena Colas followed closely behind to take silver (13.633), while Angelina Melnikova completed the podium and secured her third medal of the day.
