Miquel Mane absolute star of home Aerobics Worlds

Poster boy Miquel Mane led Spain to a highly successful home World Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics. Hosted in Pamplona from 11 to 13 September, defending Champion Mane excelled in the Individual Men’s final beating Italy’s Davide Nacci and Romania’s Leonard Manta to claim the crown once again, for the third time already in his career. Mane’s performances also secured the bronze medal in the team competition, and another bronze with Sonia Vidal and Eric Gutierrez in Trios. Still only 23 years old, Mane is rapidly making sure his name is firmly written in the history books.

Russia marked its return by topping the medal standings with three World titles, courtesy of individual women’s winner Anastasia Dmitrieva, mixed pair victors Daria Elashvili and Grigorii Shikhaleev and their combined team effort. Reigning European and World Games Champions -and defending World Champions- Hungary outscored everyone with a breathtaking chess-themed routine in the Aerobic Dance competition.

Aerobics powerhouse Italy clinched four medals, including silver for the team and the group. Mixed pair European Champions Madina Mustafayeva and Vladimir Dolmatov (AZE) tangoed their way to a second consecutive World silver, while Faidra Diamanti wrote history with her bronze medal: she’s the first ever Greek World medallist in Aerobic Gymnastics!
