The final day of competition at the 42nd European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Varna delivered a spectacular showcase of talent, determination, and excitement. A packed arena and an enthusiastic crowd created an electric atmosphere for the Senior Individual Apparatus Finals in the morning, followed by the Senior Group Apparatus Finals later in the afternoon.
In the individual competition, only two gymnasts, Bulgaria’s Stiliana Nikolova and Israel’s Daniela Munits, managed to qualify for all four apparatus finals, highlighting their remarkable consistency throughout the championships.
The hoop final opened the day with a thrilling contest. Sofiia Ilteriakova claimed the European title after a superb routine, edging Alina Harnasko by the narrowest of margins — just 0.100 points. Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli completed the podium, securing the bronze medal after another elegant performance.
Darja Varfolomeev wins the ball title with a secondary tie-breaker over Stiliana Nikolova, the two favourites literally going toe to toe! Sofiia Ilteriakova continued her impressive day by adding a second medal to her collection, taking bronze.
Second medal, this time gold, in the individual apparatus clubs finals for Stiliana Nikolova, who was cheered on by the home crowd for her outstanding performance. She secured a commanding victory with a score of 29.750, finishing ahead of Mariia Borisova and Daniela Munits, who completed the podium in second and third place respectively.
Finally, in the ribbon final, Darja Varfolomeev once again stole the spotlight by claiming the gold medal, becoming the first individual gymnast in history to win four consecutive European Championship titles on the same apparatus. Stiliana Nikolova bowed out to the roar of the home crowd with a silver medal, while Mariia Borisova secured the bronze.
In the group apparatus finals, Spain swept both European titles of the day. In the 5 Balls final, Belarus claimed the silver medal, while Israel secured bronze. In the 3 Hoops and 2 Clubs final, Russia took silver, with Israel earning its second bronze medal of the competition in the group events.
With outstanding performances, razor-thin margins, and unforgettable moments, the final day in Varna perfectly concluded another memorable edition of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
Congratulations to the medallists!
