The #Zagreb2026 Shooting star award goes to Lorette Charpy (FRA)

After the Appartus finals of the 2026 European Championships in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in Zagreb (CRO), Kamran Ramazanov, CEO of our global partner SmartScoring, presented the SmartScoring Shooting star award to France’s Lorette Charpy.

Started in 2018, this award aims to put a gymnast with an exceptional story in the spotlight, someone who is an inspiration for the future generation of gymnasts and the general public alike.

For Lorette Charpy, gymnastics has been part of her life since she was a child. She started the sport at just two and a half years old and grew up in the gym, where her mother was a coach. She even learned to walk surrounded by gymnastics.

Her international career began as a junior at the 2016 European Championships, where she won bronze on the uneven bars. In 2017, she made her senior debut at the World Championships with the French national team. Since then, she has competed at 8 editions of the European Championships and 4 World Championships, establishing herself as one of France’s most experienced gymnasts.

Her journey, however, has not been without obstacles. Serious injuries forced her to miss both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Each time, Charpy faced a long road back — and each time, she returned.

In 2023, her determination was rewarded when she helped France win a historic bronze medal in the team competition at the World Championships in Antwerp. She added another team bronze at the European Championships in Leipzig in 2025, proving once again her ability to come back stronger.

At the European Championships in Zagreb, Charpy once again represented France on the international stage, adding another chapter to an impressive career. With her experience and leadership, she also plays an important role within the French team, supporting and inspiring her younger teammates.

Now studying for a Master’s degree focused on high performance and the mental dimension of elite sport, Charpy is setting her sights on Los Angeles 2028. Her story is one of resilience, courage and an enduring love for gymnastics — making her an inspiration to the younger generation following in her footsteps.
