Dear friends,

The summer has been busy for the Technical Committee as we get closer to our highlight of the year – the European Championships in Espoo (FIN), scheduled from 14 to 17 October. Preparations are in full swing as we witnessed during our on-site Technical Committee meeting at the beginning of the month.

Exactly 30 years after the first European Gymnastics TeamGym – then called Euroteam- competition was held in Finland in 1996, we will go back to Finland. This time it will be an official TeamGym European Championships which was first held in Malmö (SWE) in 2010. All information about this exciting event is available further down.

While the Europeans have been our focus point, we have done lots of other things. Work on the ‘Lower Level Rules / Starter Package’ is progressing well. The aim is to create a single core document for all levels, with specific add-ons, to make it easier for new clubs and countries to get started in TeamGym. We have published the judges' logbooks for all TeamGym brevet judges as the Technical Committee launched a new centralised digital registry to improve accuracy and streamline the validation of judging history, replacing the need for physical logbooks at recognised competitions such as the Nordic Championships, Mid-Europeans and European Championships. The system is currently in a testing phase and under further development by the TC. It contains judges' brevet levels and their positions at these events, with an official start from November 2025. Any history prior to that remains the responsibility of the judge and federation.

Our collaboration with online competition app Elevien continues to progress very well! TeamGym rules are now being implemented into their scoring platform, which will open up exciting possibilities for virtual competitions in the future. The process is already underway and we are thrilled to see this innovative project taking shape. We are excited!

I’m pleased to announce that the International TeamGym Conference will return in 2027, and we have plenty of other events to look forward to. Read all about it below!

From 14 to 17 October, all eyes will be on the Finnish town Espoo as they will host the 16^th edition of the TeamGym Europeans.

492 gymnasts will compete in 50 Junior and Senior teams from the following 16 countries: Austria, Azerbaijan, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

Among the names on the nominative list are seven members of the 2024 All Stars Team. Sweden’s Shooting Star Agnes Arvidsson will be back in action, alongside her compatriots Josefine Marksell and Nicole Hosseini. Iceland’s Laufey Ingadottir will also return to the TeamGym stage. In the Men’s category, Kevin Dannefalk (SWE), Sondre Løkka Thorstein (NOR) and Christian Jensen (DEN) are also set to compete in Espoo.

The entire competition will be streamed on our platform gymtv.online with expert commentary by Olly Hogben and Liam Gallagher. The package will be available for purchase from 5 October. The senior finals will be on TV in Iceland (RUV) and Denmark (DR), while Finland’s YLE will show both the junior and senior finals.

The third judges course of the cycle took place in the beginning of this year. The structure of the course was exactly the same as the two previous courses and was divided into an online part at the end of February and a live part, including the exam, at the end of March in Berlin (GER).

Thank you to the German Gymnastics Federation for their huge support in organising the event. The conference room was very nice as well as the staff from the hotel!

Congratulations to 24 judges from 11 countries on claiming their international brevet.

The second webinar of the year took place on 17^th September as preparation for the European Championships for coaches and judges. Covering the topic "Code of Points Clarifications – Walk-through of this year's Q&A and Clarifications", we revisited and explained the most important questions and clarifications.

A third webinar later this year is under discussion. More info will follow soon.

We are delighted to announce the next big step for development: British Gymnastics has approved to host an ‘International TeamGym Conference’ with Bracknell Gymnastics Club as delivery partner.

It will take place from 24 to 26 September 2027 in Bracknell (Village Hotel Bracknell – close to London airports). The TC will start collecting topics for presentations – if you have ideas for club development, coaching, or judging, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Three important competitions are on the TeamGym calendar in 2027 and 2028!

First, the Nordic Senior Championships will take place in Denmark on 13 and 14 November 2027. The championships will once again bring together the top senior teams from across the Nordic countries for a weekend of high-level TeamGym competition. More information about the event, including the host city, venue and competition schedule, will be shared in due course. For now, save the date and we look forward to seeing you in Denmark in November 2027!

Then, the 3^rd Mid European TeamGym Championships (MECh) are proposed to take place in Lisbon (POR) from 24 to 27 November 2027. Plans are progressing nicely with Sporting Clube de Portugal and Trampolimágico preparing to host the event. Competition is planned across Junior and Senior Club Teams in the Women’s, Men’s and Mixed categories. The event remains subject to final approval by the European TeamGym Technical Committee.

With both the Nordic Senior Championships and the Mid Europeans taking place in November, it is shaping up to be a fantastic month of top-level TeamGym competition!

In 2028, the TeamGym highlight of the year will of course be the 2028 European Championships. We are delighted to announce that this edition has been awarded to the City of Luxembourg! After a fantastic event there in 2022, we are very much looking forward to returning. The Championships will take place about a month later than usual, provisionally from 1 to 4 November. Whether an additional competition day will be needed is currently being evaluated.
