The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has accepted our proposal to raise all age categories by 1 year for our 2021 events:
European Age Group competitions:
11 – 17 instead of 16 (but keep the maximum difference of 5 years between partner)
12 – 19 instead of 18 (but keep the maximum difference of 6 years between partner)
Junior European Championships:
13 – 20 instead of 19 (but keep the maximum difference of 6 years between partner)
This means that the same age rules apply for the postponed 2020 World Championships which will now be held in June 2021, and our planned 2021 European Age Group Competitions and European Championships which will take place only 3 months after.
We thank FIG for allowing the same flexibility to the age restrictions for European and other Continental Championships. This will hugely benefit the athletes because they will be able to compete at both the WAGC and our Championships without having to switch partners, skills or routines.
