Basel full force ahead in preparations for 2021 Artistic Europeans

Representatives of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG), including Technical Committee Presidents Anca Grigoras (WAG) and Tom Thingvold (MAG), travelled to the Swiss city of Basel last week to meet with the organisers of the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics European Championships, scheduled to be held in Basel’s St-Jakobshalle from 21 to 25 April 2021.

Rudolf Hediger, CEO of the Swiss Gymnastics Federation, introduced the LOC Managing Director Peter Howald and Technical Manager Emanuel Senn, who together with Katrin Spalinger and Tomas Kastl of the St Jakobshalle, went through the plans and ideas before showing the venue, proposed training halls, accreditation center and media zones.

The venue, with a capacity of over 6000 seats for the proposed gymnastics layout, has recently undergone renovations and is a major attraction in the city. The delegations will stay in hotels close to the tram line connecting the city with the venue and have the choice to arrive in either Basel or Zurich airport.
