Another exciting day at the Multiusos of Guimaraes today, on day 4 of the 29th European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling.
The seniors started off the day with their synchro qualifications, followed by the team finals for juniors in DMT and Tumbling, finishing with the senior synchro finals.
And the day definitely belonged to Great Britain! ‘God save the King’ sounded a whopping four times, for all four medal ceremonies conducted today.
Starting off with the junior Tumbling final, British girls Alicia Field and Scarlett Parchment both won their round, with Grace West finishing second. A near perfect score of 14 secured the gold! The highest score of the final, however, came from Belgium as Lani Spiessens noted 24.400 for a spectacular pass, lifting Belgium back onto the podium, into the silver medal position. Bronze went to Portugal who surpassed France and Ukraine.
At the same time, the Double Mini-Trampoline boys team final unfolded. Three different countries won a round each: Carlos Villavicencio prevailed for Spain in round 1, Marvin Brodowski for Germany in round 2, and Vanik Vardanyan for Armenia in round 3. It was however Great Britain, counting the consistency points awarded to 3 second places, that took the gold. After a stressful waiting time, the final scores were announced: silver for Spain and bronze for Germany.
Onto the last finals of today … Synchronised Trampoline!
Defending European Champions Bryony Page and Izzy Songhurst were on a mission, showing the highest difficulty to retain their title. Marine Jurbert and Lea Lebrousse secured the silver thanks to their impeccable synchronicity. Certainly a birthday to remember for Lea! Georgian standouts Anano Apakidze and Mariam Ragimovi were less than 2 tenths of a point further down the results table, clinching the bronze medal.
Less than 7 tenths separated first and fourth place in the men’s synchro final. Tension ran high, right up until the final results were shown. Great Britain’s Zak Perzamanos and Corey Walkes outscored France’s Pierre Gouzou and Morgan Demiro-O-Domiro, 51.940 to 51.720, for the European crown. Edging their rivals by a slight margin in difficulty, Gabriel Albuquerque and Lucas Santos grabbed the bronze medal, while reigning World Champions Fabian Vogel and Caio Lauxtermann ended in the unfortunate fourth position.
Congratulations to the medallists!
