Bulgaria held their nerve at the end of a stunning Saturday to claim Cross Battle success at the European Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.
In a competition that had already seen star performances from the likes of Taisiia Onofriichuk (three gold medals) and Olympic medallist Sofia Raffaeli (one gold medal), the attention turned to the world of juniors and groups at the start of a huge weekend of European Cup action. And they didn't disappoint in the slightest.
The Cross Battle delivers again!
In the battle for Senior group supremacy, it was always destined to be unmissable. And with the likes of Italy, Bulgaria and hosts Azerbaijan, it proved to come true in an enthralling cross battle event.
In an opening round of tense performances and electric atmosphere, it was the three mentioned previously who progressed, moving past Georgia, Ukraine and Estonia respectively.
But in the final head-to-head-to-head, Bulgaria were the nation to claim group success and the €6000 prize, a 26.800 with the three balls & two hoops combination securing the top prize. Italy finished with silver, while Azerbaijan completed the podium.
