Daniil Smirnov wins All-Around gold

Suspense was at its peak during the final day of competition in Zagreb. Everything came down to the very last seconds in the Junior All-Around final. Daniil Smirnov eventually prevailed by the tiniest of margins, scoring 81.065 points, just 0.001 ahead of Volodymyr Golovin (81.064).

After winning a silver medal on Horizontal Bar yesterday, Smirnov went one step further today. He particularly impressed on Vault and Pommel Horse, where he scored 14.066 and 14.400 respectively. Golovin, meanwhile, delivered a consistent performance across the apparatuses, highlighted by an excellent 14.600 on Parallel Bars. He took the silver medal, while Radmir Musaev (79.331) completed the podium with bronze.
