The Aerobics community gathered in Cantanhede (POR) last weekend for their one and only World Cup event this year. It’s also their last big test before the World Championships in June in Guimaraes! With three gold medals out of four won by Spain, Hungary and Italy, European athletes topped the scoring boards.
In the individual men’s competition, reigning world champion Miquel Mane confirmed his position in the world rankings, bringing home the gold after finishing 4th in qualifications. The superior execution of the Spanish gymnast allowed him to stay in 1st position even though silver medallist Davide Nacci posted the same score. Nacci had to settle for a well-deserved silver medal! Italian teammate Francesco Sebastio took the bronze.
In the women’s competition, Italy shined again with Sara Cutini clinching the silver just a few tenths behind gold medallist Silva Tamires from Brazil. A delighted Alena Ucnova grabs the bronze medal for Slovakia after a beautiful performance!
Hungary (Daniel Bali, Fanni Mazacs and Balazs Farkas) set the standards in the Mixed pairs and Trios, winning both finals with a comfortable margin (over 1 point) in the Trios. In the Mixed pairs final, Portuguese gymnasts Tania Almeida and Rui Cansado secured a bronze medal in front of their home crowd.
With Italy taking the Trios silver, Sara Cutini, Davide Nacci and Francesco Sebastio earn themselves another medal from Cantanhede! French women Maelys Lenclos, Clara Lestruhaut and Victoria Trosset improved their qualification ranking (4th) and won the bronze.
Italy and France were equally successful in the group final, finishing respectively 1st and 2nd, while the bronze medal went to Finland.
