European Gymnastics is looking for a Communications Manager 50%. This position is for an individual freelancer working remotely from an EU country. We are not looking for an agency.
Description of tasks
- Writing, editing and publishing of texts like competition reports, newsletters, corporate communication, press releases etc.
- Planning and executing of comms for European Gymnastics events.
- Planning and overseeing social media strategy.
- Archiving of media assets.
- Keeping the content of the European Gymnastics website up-to-date.
- Overseeing media operations in cooperation with Head of Media.
- Planning and overseeing freelance event team.
- Liaising with media representatives on site and pre-event, including media accreditation process.
- Facilitating of communication between European Gymnastics and event organisers.
- On site coverage of European Gymnastics events.
- Preparation of media related documents like reports, guidelines, regulations.
- Willingness to take over other media tasks for European Gymnastics if needed.
Essential skills & qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field, or equal due to experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in communication roles, preferably in sports and / or international events.
- Business level English, verbal and written. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office package resp. other similar tools.
- Excellent communication and good coordination / multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, but in cooperation with the European Gymnastics team.
- Knowledge of the different gymnastics disciplines is a plus.
- Flexibility to travel within Europe (mandatory presence at certain events).
- Flexibility to work outside usual office hours for meetings and events.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
This is a temporary assignment initially planned as 50% position (on average 20 hours per week, plus on site presence at some European Gymnastics events) for 1 year, with the potential to develop further.
Start date: by 1 August 2026 at the latest. Applicants must fulfil the legal and tax requirements for being self-employed in their country of residency.
