On the opening day of the Artistic Gymnastics competition at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival, the boys competed in their qualification rounds, aiming for a medal in the all-around and team and a spot in the mixed team and apparatus finals.
The British lads Evan McPhillips, Fawzi Zakaine Radell and Uzair Chowdhury, all members of the reigning junior European Champion team, showed their strength over all 6 apparatuses. Led by McPhillips, Great Britain successfully retained the team title with a total score of 158.500. Italy, represented by Pietro Mazzola, Ivan Rigon, and Riccardo Ruggeri secured the silver, while the bronze was won by Germany’s Zeno Csuka, Philipp Steeb, and Nikita Prohorov.
The consistent performance of McPhillips earned him the all-around title as well. In a thrilling battle with Italy's Ivan Rigon, McPhillips clinched the gold medal with a difference of just one tenth: 78.600 – 78.500! Silver for Rigon, and bronze went to Uzair Chowdhury.
