Excellent conditions in Roskilde for Tumbling and Trampet TeamGym course

40 TeamGym coaches from Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Iceland, Norway and Portugal took part in the recent UEG TeamGym Level 3 Coaching Course in Tumble and Trampet held in Roskilde (DEN). The course was organised by the UEG TeamGym Technical Committee in collaboration with the Danish Gymnastics Federation and Roskilde TeamGym.

The new facilities in Roskilde provided the perfect setting for the course. Purpose built for TeamGym, with 6 pit systems, trampolines, fast track and other equipment for preps and physical conditioning, the instructors had everything they needed to host the course. Under the capable guidance of Helge Fisker (DEN) and Jacob Melin (SWE), the participants got a great mix of theoretical and practical knowledge, with 10 gymnast demonstrators to show the different phases of the learning process.

Friday was a theoretical session, that focused on biomechanics, safety, physical requirements and the role of the coach. Saturday was a very long day, with a mix of theoretical knowledge for specific skills and practical work with the gymnasts. This session also demonstrated a lot of different drills, stations and prerequisites for the final skills e.g. Forward doubles saltos and transitions on tumbling, plus various forms of triple saltos and handspring doubles on trampet.

The knowledge gained from the Saturday formed the basis for group assignments on the Sunday.  Each group got a skill to study and present back on, including prerequisites, methodology, common mistake, escape routes etc.

Sunday finished with sessions about competition strategies and judges’ perspective.
