6 out of the 10 victories at the last 2021 World Cup in Doha went to European gymnasts with Israel’s Artem Dolgopyat winning gold floor. Rayderley Zapata (ESP) thrilled the audience with an evolution of his “Zapata”, double front somersault with 1.5. turns, shown in Doha for the first time in a layout position. This brought him the silver medal and equally to the top of the ranking for the Olympic Games qualification. A very happy Eleftherios Petrounias from Greece secured himself both the Doha World Cup title on rings and the Olympic qualification. 2 months after winning silver on parallel bars at the European Championships it now got the gold medal for Turkey’s Ferhat Arican on parallel bars. The title in Doha on high bar went to the 2019 all-around European bronze medallist from Cyprus Marios Georgiou.
Saeedreza Keikha from Iran won his first ever World Cup title on pommel horse. The gold medal on vault went to Japan’s specialist on this apparatus Hidenoru Yonekura.
After a World Cup victory on uneven bars in Melbourne 2020 it now was gold on beam in Doha for Diana Varinska from Ukraine. On floor Italy’s Vanessa Ferrari won not only the race for the gold medal, but also for the Olympic spot against her team mate Lara Mori.
Shortly before her 46th birthday and her 8th participation in Olympic Games Oksana Chusovitina (UZB) added another title to her large collection on vault. The victory on uneven bars went to Rebeca Andrade from Brazil.
