On the opening day of the 29th European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling, the Multiusos of Guimaraes welcomed the senior gymnasts for their Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling qualifications while the juniors aimed to conquer their places in the Trampoline team final and individual semi-final.
At the end of the day, the first medals were awarded as the junior boys and girls competed in their Trampoline team final.
Three gymnasts represent their country, one in each round. The winner of the round gets 5 points, the second highest score 4 points, and so on. The team with the highest total after the 3 rounds earns the continental title.
Under loud support of their teammates, the Georgian team excelled with a first place for Nino Koridze in group 1 while Ana Lapiashvili and Maia Bochoridze earned second places in their respective sessions. Bochoridze’s 50+ score sealed the deal for the Georgians who beamed with pride as they picked up the first gold medal of this event. Letizia Radaelli lead the way for Italy. Her score of 52.160 was the highest of this final and secured the silver. Germany edged France for the bronze, with Bulgaria finishing 5th.
Jesper Pattipeilohy set the tone for the Netherlands in round one as he posted 54.000 for a fabulous routine, earning the full 5 points. Teammates Mees Wink and Twan Rotgans held on tight to that lead. With a total score of 12, the Dutch boys edged the French team by a point. Celian Augue, Adrien Hiernard and Jolhann Amon combined efforts for the silver medals while the host nation won its first medal of the event, a bronze courtesy of Lucas Gregorio, Martim Lopes and Goncalo Costa.
