Day 4 of the action here in Rimini at the 28th European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling saw the seniors competing in synchro while the juniors fought for the team titles in Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline.
Having qualified just this morning, the top 8 synchro pairs took to the stage, looking for a medal, preferably a golden one of course. Great Britain’s Bryony Page and Isabelle Isabelle Songhurst excelled, posting a 47.750 as the score to beat. The ladies watched their score hold to he very end, becoming the 2022 European Champions. In an exciting battle for the other medals, Romana Schuring and Niamh Slattery (NED) edged Georgia’s Teona Janjgava and Anano Apakidze (GEO) 46.970 to 46.950.
In the men’s final, the battle for gold was a nail-biter! Just 0.250 separated the top two duos, with Germany’s Fabian Vogel & Matthias Pfleiderer performing a fabulous routine for 50.800 and the European title. Portugal’s Diogo Abreu & Pedro Ferreira secured the silver with 50.550, ahead of Greece’s Nikolaos Savvidis & Marios Grapsas.
In the three junior team finals, Great Britain won both tumbling sessions. Their boys team, featuring Bailey Forbes, Lewis McCoy, Fred Teague and Alistair Nightingale, beat Portugal and Ukraine while Charlotte Clarke, Alicia Field, Jaeda-Lei Jeffers and Naana Oppon outtumbled Ukraine and France.
Belgium put a focus on DMT for this competition and it clearly showed off. Taking the gold medal, Brent Deklerck, Witse Mols, Khassim Toure and Thimo Roox outshined Germany and Portugal.
Congratulations!
