Great Britain clinches junior European title

The Fiera di Rimini welcomed the 126 junior gymnasts with open arms as they competed in their qualification rounds. In three thrilling subdivisions, the battle for the junior Team title ensued.

In subdivision 2, the host nation set the standard. Pietro Mazzola, Simone Speranza, Manuel Berettera, Tommaso Brugnami and Diego Vazzola combined efforts to put up a great score of 240.230, posting the highest team totals on floor, pommel horse, rings and high bar. A job well done for the talented and motivated team! Forced to sit back and wait, the Italians kept faith as they watched the third and final subdivision unfold.

Their main rival in that subdivision? Great Britain, represented by Uzair Chowdhury, Zakaine Fawzi-McCaffrey, Gabriel Langton, Evan McPhillips and Sol Scott. After putting up fabulous scores on vault and parallel bars, the highest totals of the day, the Brits ended their quest on floor. Last up, Sol Scott needed 13,838, to overtake Italy. Keeping his cool, and loudly supported by his teammates and coaches, Scott nailed his routine. Result? A 13,866! Great Britain surpasses Italy by the slimmest of margins, just 0,028, for the 2024 junior European Team title!

Elias Breche, Karim Mangala-Bima, Anthony Mansard, Alan Moullec and Nathan Camilleri proved their worth for France with top-notch performances, especially on floor and vault. Thrilled with their showing, the French boys clinched the bronze medal. Smiles all around.

Congratulations to the medallists!
