In Tallinn’s Unibet Arena filled with enthusiastic fans, the 2025 Rhythmic Europeans finished on a high note with the apparatus finals for both individual gymnasts and groups.
Bulgarian star Stiliana Nikolova, fresh off winning silver in the all-around yesterday, showed her class yet again in these finals, clinching not 1, not 2 but 3 gold medals. In fact, Nikolova won each final she competed in today. First, the 19-year-old bested Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli for the hoop title, with Taisiia Onofriichuk (UKR) grabbing the bronze. Then, Nikolova excelled with ball, posting the highest difficulty, execution and artistry score to amass 29.800. More than a point behind, Germany’s Anastasia Simakova and Israel’s Meital Maayan Sumkin battled for the other medals. Simakova’s higher difficulty gave her the edge for silver, while Sumkin earned the bronze medal. For both talented gymnasts, it’s their first time on a Europeans podium!
With clubs, Nikolova and Onofriichuk impressed and score over 30 points. Both earned 30.400. The tie was broken based on the higher execution score giving Nikolova an amazing third title. Silver for Onofriichuk and bronze for Sofia Raffaeli.
First up in the ribbon final, defending European Champion Darja Varfolomeev showed she meant business. In a fabulous performance, the German star displayed incredible difficulty combined with impeccable execution to easily prolong her title. Her score of 30.650 was the highest of the entire event. Israel’s Sumkin enjoyed a second podium appearance as she edged Onofriichuk for the silver by just 0.050.
In the finals for groups, Spain absolutely aced it winning both finals, earning a hattrick of their own. With 5 ribbons, France clinched their first ever silver medal, improving on the bronze once won back in 1995. The renewed Italian group were delighted with the bronze. The mixed apparatus final saw Ukraine step onto the podium in second place while Germany wrote history by winning their first ever group medal on the European stage. Host nation Estonia ended in the fourth pace after an incredible tournament.
Congratulations to the medallists!
