Hungarian legend Krisztián Berki announces his retirement

Krisztián Berki, the multiple Olympic, World and European Champion on pommel horse, announced his retirement today at a live online press conference of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation. Krisztián Berki was not even 5 years old when he first entered the gym. He has spent more than 30 years in the world of gymnastics, winning everything a gymnast can win: 3 World, 6 European and an Olympic title! In addition, he owns a universiade and numerous Hungarian championship titles. The champion revived the peak of his career, the Olympic gold and the European Championships in Debrecen. He then announced his retirement, struggling with tears. One of the last moments of the event was the announcement of the president, Dr. Zoltán Magyar: the federation created the sports director position that Berki was asked to fill.

Thank you so much to everyone for standing by me during these more than 30 years. I feel that I have no reason to be ashamed, my career has been very complete despite the injuries, and perhaps it is no exaggeration to say: I wish such a career to every athlete. I can't be grateful enough to István Kovács, my coach, who knew all my vibes, knows when and what I need. Without him, I'm not sure I could have achieve what I did
