A packed Toto Arena showed their support to all gymnasts fighting for the all-around medals. Having already performed two exercises -the balance and dynamic routines – today all qualifiers (one per country per category) showed their combined routine. This score was added to the other two with the total determining the final results.
The juniors kicked off the competition in the afternoon. The Israeli crowd was in for a real treat with three of the five finals won by their gymnasts! Meshi Hurvitz, Nikol Aleinik and Inbal Zeitounei claimed gold in the women’s group final, Almog Green and Maayan Zunenshine in the women’s pairs and Adam Nudel, Nevo Moshe Gavra, Tomer Offir and Yorai Kleiman in the men’s group. The national anthem sounded loud and clear in the Toto hall! Great Britain returned home with the gold medal in the mixed pairs, for Ella Hanna Sanz and Jordan Franklin. And Russia was victorious as well as Andrei Zuev and Artem Simonov topped the standings in the men’s pair final.
In the senior competition, European Games Champions Talia De Troyer, Britt Vanderdonckt and Charlotte Van Royen (BEL) beat Portugal’s Francisca Sampaio Maia, Francisca Maia and Barbara Sequeira for the European title with Great Britain’s Erin Henderson, Sacha Muir and Chloe Rowlands in third place. Russian mixed pair Viktoria Aksenova and Kirill Startsev overcame a shaky start on their first competition day to clinch the gold medal by 2,5 points over Belarussians Konstantin Evstafeev and Hanna Kasyan. Dutch duo Stef Van der Locht and Fenne Van Dijck earned a historic bronze medal.
British stars Adam Upcott and Charlie Tate, who announced they will retire after this competition, shone brightly yet another time, leaving a gap of half a point with Russians Timofei Ivanov and Maksim Karavaev. Germany’s Tim Sebastian and Michail Kraft snuck into third place, leading by just a tenth over Belarus. The Portuguese women’s pair Ana Teixeira and Rita Ferreira extended their lead to 3,5 points over Russia’s Iasmina Ishankulova and Diana Korotaeva.
Last but certainly not least, Russia’s men’s group German Kudriashov, Alexander Sorokin, Kirill Zadorin and Valeriy Tukhashvili cruised to victory over Portugal’s Miguel Silva, Henrique Piqueiro, Frederico Silva and Henrique Silva.
