This weekend, the 18th World Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics were held in the Italian coastal town Pesaro. In the Vitrifrigo Arena, home of the 2021 European Championships, gymnasts from all over the world fought for the medals in the seven categories – Individual Women, Individual Men, Mixed Pairs, Trios, Groups, Aerobic Dance and Aerobic Step- plus for the team honours.
Host nation Italy took the first title of the weekend, the team gold, based on their performances in the qualification rounds, outscoring Romania and China. Later on, Italy added earned two bronze medals to its medal tally, for its Group and for Davide Nacci in the Individual Men’s final.
Regaining the Individual Men’s title he first won back in 2021 as an 18-year-old, Spain’s Miquel Mane scored 21.750 for an energetic, passionate routine. Hungary earned the third gold medal for a European nation as they bested Romania for Aerobic Dance glory.
Experienced Vladimir Dolmatov paired with Madina Mustafayeva to secure the silver medal in the Mixed Pairs final for Azerbaijan. European Champions Maelys Lenclos, Clara Lestruhaut and Victoria Trosset earned a silver of their own, in a nail-biting Trios final, holding off the excellent Bulgarians Tihomir Barotev, Borislava Ivanova and Antonio Papazov. Lenclos earned the bronze individually too, behind 2022 World Champion Anastasiia Kurashvili who clinched the silver here for Ukraine, the second medal for her nation, after bronze in the Aerobic step competition.
