National anthems sound for hosts Bulgaria, Great Britain and Portugal as EAGC comes to a close

On the last day of the 2023 European Age Group Competitions, Varna’s Palace of Culture and Sports witnessed breathtaking performances by Europe’s rising Acro stars.

A grand total of 7 finals were disputed today: in the 11 – 16 Age Group the women’s pair competed their balance routine while the women’s group performed their dynamic exercise. In the 12 – 18 Age Group, all 5 categories displayed their combined routine.

The hopes of the host nation rested on the young shoulders of Hristiyana Yulieva and Sofia Hristova. The Bulgarian duo delighted the audience with a quirky routine that earned the highest artistry and execution scores of the 11 – 16 women’s pair final. They totalled 27.900 for the win … with the highest score of the day!

In a nail-biting 12 – 18 men’s pairs final, Guilherme Matos and Fabio Beco (POR) overtook Ukraine’s Artem Shapoval and Hlib Honcharuk and Belgium’s Karsten Buyse and Emiel Hebbrecht by just 0.010 to take the title.

The winner takes it all, the music team GB chose, was quite significant for the rest of the day as Great Britain claimed the 5 other European crowns at stake today. Not a bad day in the office at all! Gold for the 11 – 16 Women’s Groups Gemma Bidle, Alexis Biddle & Sophie Noyce, the 12 – 18 Men’s Group Samuel Lewis, Jackson Birch, Alexander Lofnes & Christoph Tilroe, Mixed Pair Emily Eales & Harry Norman, Women’s Pair Keira Redford and Jessica Hodgson and Women’s Group Dollie Holt, Isabel Norfolk & Olivia Norfolk. A great birthday present for Isabel as she celebrated her sweet 16 on this day.

The variety of countries contesting these finals and winning medals was great to see. An abundance of talent on display, which is what we want to see in the Age Group Competitions! A huge shoutout goes to all participants: you’ve created a wonderful show for all to see!
