Who to watch?
The field includes stars like reigning Olympic Champion on floor Artem Dolgopyat (ISR), Vice-Olympic Champion on floor Rayderley Zapata (ESP), double European Champion on parallel bars and 2021 European Gymnast of the Year Ferhat Arican (TUR), 2019 World Champion on parallel bars Joe Fraser (GBR), Greek Lord of the Rings Eleftherios Petrounias, Irish star Rhys McClenaghan, reigning World Champion on floor Nicola Bartolini (ITA), recently crowned Mediterranean Games all-around Champion Adem Asil (TUR), 2019 European Games Champions Artur Davtyan (ARM) and Robert Tvorogal (LTU), Ukraine’s rising star Ilia Kovtun alongside veteran teammate Igor Radivilov, 2020 European Champion on pommel horse Matvei Petrov (ALB), Croatia’s master of the high bar Tin Srbic while the host nation Germany counts the Hero de Janeiro Andreas Toba, Lukas Dauser, Nils Dunkel, Glenn Trebing and Lucas Kochan in its ranks.
Of course, all gymnasts are looking to excel in Munich after a long period of uncertainty and we wish every single gymnast loads of success.
Competition format
Each country can enter a team of 3 – 5 gymnasts of which up to 4 gymnasts compete on each apparatus, or up to 2 individual gymnasts. The 3 best scores on each apparatus are added together to make the team total on that apparatus, with the 8 best teams advancing to the team final where 3 gymnasts will compete on each apparatus and all 3 scores count towards the team total.
The 8 highest ranked gymnasts in the qualifying competition per apparatus advance to the Apparatus Finals, with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country / final.
The results of both the senior and junior qualifying competition will determine the All-Around European Artistic Gymnastics Champion 2022. A separate All-Around Final result list will be produced which will detail the top 24 gymnasts with the highest All-Around ranking. A maximum of 2 gymnasts per Federation will be taken into consideration.
The results from the Junior Qualifying competition will also determine the Junior European Artistic Gymnastics Team Champions 2022. A separate Team Final result list will be produced which will detail the top 8 Teams with the highest Team total ranking.
This event also serves the continental qualifying competition for the 2022 World Championships. For details, see the FIG TR Art. 5.1.1 Qualifications Pathway to the World Championships.
