A busy day today in the Toto Arena in Holon (ISR) as the last seven finals of the 2019 European Age Group Competitions were contested.
In the 11 – 16 category the women’s pairs performed their balance routine and the women’s groups the dynamic exercise while the 12 – 18 finalists showed off their third routine, the combined exercise.
Russia started off strongly, claiming the gold medals in the first three 12 - 18 finals. Vladislav Glevitski and Samir Mamedov outscored the Israeli men’s pair Hen Banuz and Nadav Gershgoren by 0.250 with the British duo Ethan Law and Archie Gooneskera in third place. Aleksandra Bublik and Kirill Chipizubov beat Cheri-May Cunningham and Joseph Hill (GBR) for the mixed pair title. Israelis Hadar Fainshtein and Tal Avrahami claimed the bronze medal. Third time lucky for Russia as their men’s group, featuring Semen Lvov, Timur Timergaliev, Oleg Krivenko and Anton Fartushniak edged passed the Brits Bradley Gold, Jake Turner, Harry Watson and Jack Clegg, with Germany outscoring Georgia for the bronze medal.
Then, in the remaining two 11 – 16 finals, the gymnasts of team Israel made their nation proud as they won both categories. Shira Magen and Shelly Eghert excelled in the women’s pair final while Harel Tennbaum, Hen Vinner and Maya Kremer were victorious in the women’s group.
After three Russian and two Israeli victories, two other strong acro nations rose to the challenge. 2017 11 - 16 Champions Sasha Carpenter and Poppy Yates easily won this year’s 12 - 18 final ahead of a fabulous duo of the Netherlands Robin Hooijenga and Anna Koster, with Portugal’s Ines Semedo and Mara Mara in third place. Last but not least, Portugal’s Yasmin Rodrigues, Margarida Malato and Monica Lima stepped onto the highest podium, in front of Russia and Great Britain.

This concludes the European Age Group Competitions! The European Championships for juniors and seniors start on Wednesday 30 October.
