Russia, Israel and Portugal claim all-around titles at #AcroPesaro2021

Today at Pesaro’s Vitrifrigo Arena, all gymnasts performed their third and final routine known as the combined programme. This score, added to the balance and dynamic points earned earlier this week, determined the all-around results.

In the 5 junior and 5 senior level finals, three countries divided the European titles: Russia won the majority with 5 golds, closely followed by Israel with 4 while Portugal claimed one.

Known as an excellent acro nation, gymnasts representing the Russian Federation made it onto all but two podiums today. They excelled in the junior finals with 2 victories, for Vladislav Glevitskii and Samir Mamedov in the men’s pairs and for Kira Feofilaktova and Darina Novoselova in the women’s pairs. In the senior finals, three all-around titles returned to Russia. First Daria Tikhomirova, Sofia Polishchuk and Daria Chebulanka dominated the women’s groups, while men’s pair Timofei Ivanov and Maksim Karavaev and mixed pair Victoria Aksenova and Kirill Startsev both earned 30+ scores to claim the gold.

Israel, the rising star in acro for several years, started off to a fabulous start with victories in the junior mixed pair, women’s and men’s group finals for Amy Refaeli & Yonatan Fridman; Yarden Ron, Michal Stratievsky & Tamar Stollar; Odem Gidron, Or Abraham, Or Strohmayer and Maor Nekave respectively. Another victory followed for the impressive senior men’s group featuring Amir Daus, Lior Borodin, Tomer Offir and Hen Banuz.

Portugal continued its success as well with World Champions Rita Ferreira and Ana Teixeira, their country’s first ever medallists at the senior world level, excelling today again to edge Israel’s 2019 junior European Champions Almog Green and Maayan Zunenshine for the women’s pair’s crown.

Congratulations to all medallists!
