Stars ready to conquer #Zagreb2026

In exactly four weeks the first competition day for the Artistic Gymnastics European Championships is scheduled to start in the Croatian capital Zagreb.

First up in this two-week gymnastics party, both junior and senior women will fight for the medals from 13 to 16 August. 40 delegations will be represented by 166 senior and 137 junior gymnasts.

Headliners like defending European all-around Champion Manila Esposito and reigning World Champion Angelina Melnikova are joined by Elena Colas who will make her senior European debut after years of dominating the junior circuit. Esposito has won the last two European All-Around crowns. Can she make it three in a row? This has only been done twice before, by the iconic Nadia Comaneci and Svetlana Khorkina. More big names aiming to challenge for titles are Karina Schoenmaier, Alba Petisco, Ruby Evans, Giulia Perotti, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, Naomi Visser, Jennifer Williams, Lorette Charpy, among others. This event sees the return to competition of stars like Helen Kevric, Asia D’Amato, Sanne Wevers, Becky Downie and Zsofia Kovacs who will have the full support of the crowd.

In week two the men take to the stage. Their competition dates range from 19 to 23 August. We’ll also see 40 delegations in action, with a total of 335 gymnasts: 187 seniors and 148 juniors.

The defending All-Around Champion Adem Asil is scheduled to compete, as are World medallist Noe Seifert and 2024 European Champion Marios Georgiou. Rings superstar Eleftherios Petrounias is already by far the most successful European gymnast with an amazing streak of 8 titles on his signature apparatus. Can he make it 9 in Zagreb? Olympic Champion Rhys McClenaghan returns to the Europeans for the first time since his Olympic title and is set to take on the defending Champion Hamlet Manukyan and his teammate Mamikon Khatchatryan. Nils Dunkel aims to prolong his parallel bars glory while Robert Tvorogal defends on horizontal bar. Joe Fraser is back too, alongside Harry Hepworth, Courtney Tulloch and Sol Scott. Furthermore, with names like Artem Dolgopyat, Nazar Chepurniy, Ferhat Arican, Ray Zapata, Tomasso Brugnami, Daniel Marinov, etc, this event is guaranteed high-level entertainment. The hopes of the home nation Croatia lie on the shoulders of Tin Srbic, Aurel Benovic, Mateo Zugec, Marko Jovicic, Marko Kendel and Filip Ude.
