Strong Israeli performances secure top qualification spots

Plenty of action in Holon’s Toto Arena today with the 11 – 16 men’s pairs and men’s groups (dynamic) and mixed pairs (balance) performing their second exercise. The total of the two routines determined the final score and thus the 8 finalists (4 for men’s groups), with a limit of 1 unit per country.

Russian men’s pair Matvei Chernykh and Ivan Derendiaev extended their gap over their competitors to take the lead going into the final by just over half a point over Great Britain’s George Paget and Harry Hole. The French duo Finlay Colley and Bastien Vidal-Nicolas qualified in third place.

Host nation Israel topped the rankings in both the men’s groups and mixed pairs. Continuing the strong men’s group tradition, Gidron Odem, Or Abraham, Or Strohmayer and Maor Nekave outscored Russians Maksim Korshunov, Artem Logvinov, Ivan Mikulin and Ilia Bocherov and the British quartet Rex Booth, Alexander Lofnes, Louis Alexander and Jackson Birch. 2018 Youth Olympic silver medallist Yonatan Fridman paired with Amy Lev Refaeli and they delivered 2 excellent performances that wowed the crowd both in the hall and online. The pair outscored Rita Rebelo and Luis Ferreira (POR) and Lucy Hodgson and Samuel Yarnall (GBR) by more than 2 points!
