TeamGym News! The TeamGym Newsletter N° 20 - December 2025

Dear friends

With the end of 2025 fast approaching, we look back on a year full of exciting TeamGym activities across Europe.

For the TeamGym Technical Committee, the first half of the year has been a whirlwind of activity: from finalising and publishing the new TeamGym Code of Points, over delivering two intensive brevet courses across four weekends, to rolling out the updated rules to coaches through a series of webinars.

On 5 September, the TeamGym TC hosted a meeting in Lausanne with Europe’s leading apparatus suppliers to discuss current developments, future perspectives, and feedback on existing TeamGym apparatus. The group explored opportunities to improve apparatus design and support our continued growth. Discussions also focused on standardisation of the TeamGym apparatus to ensure consistency and safety across all levels of competition. The outcomes of the meeting will guide the TC’s continued work on developing and refining the apparatus norms. The meeting provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas, align efforts, and strengthen the future of TeamGym. Thank you to all participants for contributing to a productive meeting.

As the sport continues to grow across Europe, the demand for international competitions is rising. November became one of the busiest high level competition months of the year, kicking off with the Nordic Championships in Espoo (FIN) and continuing with the Mid-European Championships in Lignano Sabbiadoro (ITA). Both events were of special interest to the TeamGym Technical Committee, as they were among the first to be held under the new Code of Points.

The competitions were a great success, bringing together gymnasts from 17 countries. The Mid-European Championships alone featured teams from 12 nations — not only from continental Europe but also from French Guiana and the USA.

A big thank you to both organisers, and a special thanks to Federazione Ginnastica d’Italia and the local club Dinamic Gym for hosting the Mid-European Championships for the second time in a row.

This autumn, our collaboration with Elevien has picked up speed. Elevien has created a digital platform designed to support the sport in multiple ways, with one of its key aims being to enable virtual gymnastics competitions—allowing events to be organised, judged, and followed online. In mid-December, we will begin initial tests to explore what it would take to integrate TeamGym into the platform.

The upcoming year is an exhilarating one as the TeamGym community returns to Finland to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the inaugural European Championships for club teams, held in Jyväskylä in 1996. From 14 to 17 October 2026, the city of Espoo and the Espoo Metro Arena will welcome the TeamGym community from all over Europe. The modern arena, which recently hosted the Nordic TeamGym Championships, promises an unforgettable atmosphere — full stands, vibrant team spirit, and the kind of energy that defines major TeamGym events.

Week tickets officially became available on the day one year before the event. Practical information will be available via European Gymnastics event webpage.

Teams preparing for the European Championships should already now download the Technical Regulations, edition 2026/20207, that were recently updated for all disciplines. The new version contains a few amendments for TeamGym that comes into force on 1 January 2026.

Any clarifications to the Code of Points will be communicated to Nations Federations and will be listed in the Directives (Invitation) for the event.

Questions on the Code of Points or the Technical Regulations may be submitted through the contact us page. In the rules section, you will also find a document containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). The FAQ will be regularly updated as new questions are submitted.

Education has remained a key focus, and late last year we launched a pilot e-learning project, studying digital tools that make online learning interactive—almost like face-to-face education.

Although the planning for next year’s education is not yet finalised, we are already announcing a third brevet course aimed at both new and current TeamGym federations. The course will take place on 21 & 22 February (online) and from 20 to 22 March in Berlin (GER). It consists of two modules: an online weekend and an in-person weekend, with mandatory training in between. The exams will be held during the second weekend.

Candidates who successfully complete the course and achieve category levels 1–3 will receive the European Gymnastics TeamGym Brevet for the 2025–2028 cycle. For more information, please see the event webpage. The course has already reached the minimum number of registrations. Are you interested to participate? Please contact the National Gymnastics Federation in your country which can access the detailed invitation on the intranet and submit registrations.

On Monday 15 December we are organizing a last webinar before Christmas on the new TeamGym Code of Points. Judges and members of the TeamGym Technical Committee will share general feedback with the participating teams at the Nordic and Mid-European Championships.

Finally, an updated version of the ABC for Floor will be available early next year. This educational presentation, including video material, will help coaches interpret the TeamGym Code of Points and clarify different concepts in both written and visual form. Please find your electronic copy on the TeamGym webpage.

After completing four cycles—16 years—on the TeamGym Technical Committee and reaching my third and final term as President, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my colleagues Bianca Franzoi, Peter Tranckle, Heli Lemmetty, Max Andersen, Pauline Ange, and Inara Israfilbayova for their expertise and dedication in supporting the development and growth of TeamGym.

Serving on the Committee has been an exciting, inspiring, and enriching journey, gaining many friends across Europe, and I am deeply grateful for the privilege of contributing to the development of TeamGym on our continent.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout these years. I wish the new Committee every success in their future work.
