Three apparatus finals were on the programme today in Zagreb, with the best gymnasts in Europe battling for gold on Floor, Pommel Horse and Rings. Following the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 European Championships in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, the first eight qualifiers took to the floor for the first final of the day.
Artem Dolgopyat was the second gymnast to perform. The Israeli delivered a flawless routine to claim his third European title on floor, following his victories in 2020 and 2022. His score of 14.446 put him at the top of the standings and secured yet another European gold medal. Just behind him, Arsenii Dukhno took silver with 14.333, adding another medal to the one he won in the All-Around competition. Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth completed the podium with 14.300, earning the bronze medal.
The Pommel Horse final lived up to all expectations, with a very high level of competition. Leading the way was Italy’s Gabriele Targhetta, who delivered a remarkable performance. His near-perfect routine earned him an excellent score of 15.133, enough to secure the European title. Armenia’s Hamlet Manukyan (15.000) and Mamikon Khachatryan (14.900) also produced outstanding performances, completing the podium in second and third place respectively.
The final event of the day was the Rings, and once again, it was an incredibly close competition. Armenia claimed another medal, with Artur Avetisyan crowned the new European champion on Rings. Just behind him, Ilia Zaika also scored 14.400. With an identical total score, the Ukrainian finished second due to a lower execution score. Reigning European champion Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece completed the podium with the bronze medal.
Congratulations to the medallists!
