The last day of the 2019 European Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics saw the juniors and seniors competing in the remaining balance and dynamic finals.
In the senior competition, the women’s group and the men’s pairs showed off their balance exercise. The mixed pairs, women’s pair and men’s group competed their dynamic routine.
Two units managed to claim their third victory of the event! First, Belgium’s Talia De Troyer, Britt Vanderdonckt and Charlotte Van Royen (BEL) beat Portugal’s Francisca Sampaio Maia, Francisca Maia and Barbara Sequeira in the dynamic final, with Israel’s Tzlil Hurvitz, Or Armona and Yarin Ovadia claiming the bronze. Then, Russian mixed pair Viktoria Aksenova and Kirill Startsev stepped into the footsteps of their predecessors and compatriots Marina Chernova and Georgiy Pataraya who won the triple crown both in 2015 and in 2017. Belarussians Volha Melnik and Artur Beliakou missed out on the all-around and the balance final but will return home with the silver for their dynamic routine. Germany’s Tim Sebastian and Michail Kraft delighted the crowd, especially the large number of German supporters, when their balance routine proved to be worthy of gold. Three pairs battled for silver and bronze. All-around Champions Adam Upcott and Charlie Tate edged Artsiom Yashchanka and Aliaksei Zayats for the silver.
A close fight in the women’s pairs finals where Portugal’s Ana Teixeira and Rita Ferreira edged Ukraine’s Yulia Pylypiak and Oleksandra-Maria Tabachynska by just 0.010! Another victory for the Portuguese team as Miguel Silva, Henrique Piqueiro, Frederico Silva and Henrique Silva earned the European title in dynamic over Russians German Kudriashov, Alexander Sorokin, Kirill Zadorin and Valeriy Tukhashvili with Ukraine in the bronze medal position.
In the junior competition, the women’s pairs and women’s groups competed in the balance finals while the men’s pairs, mixed pairs and men’s groups battled for the medals in the dynamic finals.
Israeli women’s pair Almog Green and Maayan Zunenshine and women’s group Meshi Hurvitz, Nikol Aleinik and Inbal Zeitounei clinched their third victory of the week. Several new Champions were crowned as well, with Belarussians Viktoria Akhotnikava and Ilia Famenkou winning the mixed pairs title. The British anthem sounded for the men’s group featuring Max Crawford, Kieran Holbrook, Andrew Morris-Hunt and Cameron Patrick-Lothian while Azerbaijan reached the top of the podium in the men’s pairs final, gold for Daniel Abbasov and Murad Rafiyev.
