Two titles each for twins Dina and Arina Averina

On the final day of the 35th European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics, Russian stars Dina and Arina Averina claimed two continental titles each, neatly dividing the trophies between them. Dina was the best with hoop and ribbon while Arina topped the ranking with ball and clubs. Dina did also add a silver with clubs to her already impressive collection of medals. The twins’ teammate Aleksandra Soldatova completed the Russian party as she secured silver both with ball and with ribbon. Belarus’ Katsiaryna Halkina upgraded from the bronze she won with hoop in Minsk 2015 to silver here in Baku. The bronze medals went to three newcomers on the European podium: Bulgaria’s Boryana Kaleyn returns home with two medals (ball and ribbon) while Israel’s Nicol Zelikman earned the bronze with hoop and Vlada Nikolchenko claimed bronze with clubs for next year’s hosts Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, the junior groups contested their apparatus finals. The Russian girls showed the exercises with both the highest difficulty and execution, completing the clean sweep for team Russia.

Thanks to our fans for the support. It means so much to us!
