UEG founding member and Honorary Vice-President Bruno Grandi passes away

With great sadness we announce the passing of one of UEG’s founding members, Prof. Dr. Bruno Grandi. Born on 9 May 1934, the fiery Italian started as a gymnast and coach before rising through the ranks as an official. He was part of the Committee established in 1978 that laid the foundations for the creation of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) in 1982 where Grandi signed on behalf of the Italian Federation. He stood at the helm of his national Federation from 1977 to 2000, was Vice-President of the UEG from 1982 to 1989, FIG President from 1996 to 2016 and member of IOC from 2000 to 2004.
