12 countries travelled to the Bulgarian capital Sofia last week to compete in the first World Cup event in Acrobatic Gymnastics in over a year, the one and only major international competition before the postponed World Championships will take place in Geneva (SUI) from 2 to 4 July.
The only nation to capture two titles was Ukraine with Viktoriia Kozlovska and Taisiia Marchenko claiming victory in the women’s pairs and European dynamic bronze medallists Stanislav Kukurudz, Yurii Push, Yuriy Savka and Taras Yurush victorious the men’s group final.
2017 and 2019 European medallists Aliaksei Zayats and Artsiom Yaschanka (BLR) edged teammates Maksim Markevich and Aleh Mikhalevich for the men’s pair title.
Germany’s Daniel Blintsov and Pia Schuetze made their mixed pair debut in Sofia, cruising to victory.
Belgium sent a new women’s group, Lise de Meyst, Kim Bergmans, and Bo Hollebosch, living up to the high standards set by their predecessors. The ladies outscored their Russian rivals on artistry and execution.
