Ukrainian double victory as #ACRO2023 junior competition unfolds

On the last day of the 31^st European Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics in the Bulgarian coastal town Varna, the juniors performed in the second and final individual final.

On the schedule today: Dynamic for Women’s Pairs and Balance for Women’s Groups and Mixed Pairs. Both the Men’s Pairs and Men’s Groups Dynamic finals were held out of competition due to the insufficient number of participants.

Ukraine aced their competition today. First, Ruzanna Vecheruk and Anhelina Cherniavska produced a stunning dynamic exercise to easily win the title. France’s Lili David and Julie Philouze earned the silver medal with a score of 26.810, compared to 26.560 for Spain’s Joana Monica Lopez and Leyre Lopez who happily settled for bronze.

Next, Ivan Labunets and Yevfrosyniia Kryvytska outclassed the entire field, posting a whopping 28.400. Their execution and artistry truly was out of this world. Italian trailblazers Edoardo Ferraris and Arianna Luca clinched another medal, silver this time, while Portugal’s Andre Fiuza and Madalena Tomas grabbed the bronze medal.

In the women’s groups, the gold went to Anahita Bashiri, Zahra Rashidova and Nazrin Zeyniyeva, representing Azerbaijan who overtook the British girls Ruby Bray, Abi Read and Emma Farraj. Great performance too by the Netherlands as Amilyah Daal, Inge Speerstra and Mare Anne Hogenhuis secured the bronze.

Great Britain won both the unofficial finals, with Sidney Baker and Owen Nickless in men’s pairs and Gethin Davies, Freddie Turner, Louis Alexander and Rex Booth in men’s groups.
