Let’s Fly! The Trampoline Gymnastics Newsletter N° 21 - April 2026

Wauw, after many months of preparation, the 2026 European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling are right around the corner! This edition will feature Europe’s best athletes in the junior and senior competition, and will see the debut of the U21 category on a continental level. The U21 will compete in Individual Trampoline and … Mixed synchro, another novelty in these Championships! Read all about it below.

Since 1 January, our new Technical Committee members have taken up their positions. We’ve unanimously nominated Andrew Coulter (IRL) as Vice President and Francesca Beltrami (ITA) as Secretary. Remo Curcuruto (SUI) will manage our social media channels. Furthermore, we rely on the experience of Anette Dalsten (DEN), Joao Marques (POR) and Jenny Söderlund (SWE) to organise great events and continue to develop all three disciplines in Europe. That said, if you are interested in organising a development workshop in your country, talk to us!

A new TC unfortunately also means that we have to say goodbye to several valued members. To Luis Nunes, Patrick Siegfried and Konrad Bojakowski … your enthusiasm and dedication over the past years have been of immense value to the trampoline community. I thank you warmly for that. You will be greatly missed! Both Luis and Patrick became Honorary members of European Gymnastics, a well-deserved honour.

Our community came together to support British former tumbler and current coach Mikey Barnes as one of the five candidates in the European Gymnastics ‘Coach of the Year’ election. With over 300,000 votes, a bit more than 50% of all votes, Barnes succeeded and he will be honoured in Portimao, on Sunday 12 April at 4pm approximately. Congratulations!

This summer, we organise our annual training camp in Portugal again, from 26 July to 1 August. There are a few more weeks left to register so make sure you book your place. Several world-renowned experts will share their expertise with you. Expect a brilliant week of training in an encouraging environment!

And we have a great partnerships coming! Together with Greg Roe and his Freestyle Trampoline Association we plan a Freestyle meets Trampoline show in Portimao. Exciting, right?

Next week, from 8 to 12 April, we’re in for 5 action-packed competition days in Portimao. For these Europeans we’ve chosen a different approach. Not only did we add the U21 category and the mixed synchro competition, we decided to hold all team finals together in one afternoon!

All the info about these European Championships, including start lists, results, photos and videos, will be published on the event website: 2026 European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling - Portimao (POR) | European Gymnastics

We’re the first European Gymnastics event which will feature our very own content creator! This new idea aims to shine a light on the athlete’s experience at an event and offer a glimpse behind the scenes for the fans. In Portimao, we’ll experience this journey together with Portuguese tumbling star Vasco Peso!

Can’t join us in Portimao? Don’t worry, we’ve got your covered! We offer a livestream package for the entire competition for just € 20. From Wednesday to Saturday, you can follow all the action via the judges’ cameras. One stream for women’s trampoline, one for men’s trampoline, one for Double Mini-Trampoline and one for Tumbling. On Sunday, all finals are produced for TV! So you can enjoy high-quality coverage with expert commentary by Blythe Lawrence and Olly Hogben.

Our annual training camp returns to Portugal! From 26 July to 1 August 2026, we invite Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling gymnasts and their coaches to the High Performance Center of Anadia.

The philosophy of our training camp is to provide access and enjoyment for those who would like to improve their performance under the supervision of coaching experts invited by the European Gymnastics TC-TRA. These experts organise training sessions aimed at the improvement of both young participating gymnasts and their coaches. The experts will also facilitate exchange of experience between all participants and lectures for the coaches. Participants will learn more about training planning and progressive construction of routines. Led by Anette Dalsten (TRA), we’ve invited the following experts: Luis Nunes (DMT & TRA), Lauren Jeffrey (DMT), Sergio Lucas (TRA), Paul Greaves (TRA) and Luis Rosa Nunes (TUM). Depending on the number of participants, additional experts will be invited.

Interested? Contact your National Federation to register! The deadline is 27 April … don’t miss it!

Exciting news! On Sunday 12 April, between the U21 Individual Trampoline and the U21 Mixed Synchro finals, we’ll witness a fabulous collaboration: classic trampoline meets freestyle!

Working together with the Freestyle Trampoline Association, co-founded by former Canadian elite trampolinist Greg Roe, Milco Abrahams will lead the challenge: engaging top athletes in the freestyle way and showing the audience how else a trampoline can be used.
